Clean Water Fund partnered with the environmentally friendly hair care products company, Aveda, to help Aveda to help launch their first-ever Walk for Water event, in Northern California. During this event, 200 employees from 60 Aveda locations in Northern California walked four miles across the Golden Gate Bridge to raise donations for our Clean Water Fund. In the weeks leading up to the Walk, participating stylists wore buttons provided by Clean Water Fund that invited salon patrons to "Tell me to take a hike," which raised awareness, support, donations, and more than a few smiles.
Why four miles? That's the average distance women in developing nations walk each day just to get the water for their family's daily needs. Aiming to making clean water accessible to all, Aveda's Walk for Water event is part of their annual Earth Month, in which special salon events and sales during the month of April benefit local water advocacy organizations worldwide, as well as the Global Greengrants Fund. Since 1990, Aveda has raised $11 million for environmental advocacy organizations through their annual Earth Month events. This year, Clean Water Fund will benefit from funds raised in Northern California and the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes region.
