Activist Resources

NERAGE - Northeast Resistance Against Genetic Engineering
This interactive resource serves as a global newswire carrying some of the most up to date information about biotechnology developments both scientific and activist related. In addition, the site is also a resource for Northeast Anti-biotech activists who want to post upcoming events, workshops etc. or to report on recent events and activities.

Stop GE Fish Campaign
CWF has teamed up with Friends of the Earth and Center for Food Safety to call for a moratorium on the commercialization of genetically engineered fish. The coalition, in addition to petitioning the federal government to include other agencies beyond the FDA in the approval process of ge fish, is also calling on fish retailers to pledge never to sell ge fish. The site has information about both the retailers and the petition to the federal government.

Scientific Resources

Ag Biotech InfoNet
A valuable resource for anyone trying to better understand the implications of agricultural biotechnology. They provide access to critical, original documents and information, and recognized experts in the field of agricultural biotechnology. If you're looking for the scientific facts, this is the best resource out there.

Union of Concerned Scientists
As a science-based environmental advocacy organization, UCS has been instrumental in calling for further research into the Monarch butterfly controversy. They are currently advocating for stricter regulations and testing of Bt engineered plants by the EPA and calling on the FDA to eliminate the use of antibiotic resistance marker genes in genetically engineered food.

Council for Responsible Genetics
CRG encourages informed public debate about the social, ethical, and environmental implications of new genetic technologies, and advocates for socially responsible use of these technologies. CRG monitors the development of new genetic technologies in two broad program areas: human genetics, and commercial biotechnology and the environment.

Agricultural Farming Resources

Food First
The Institute for Food and Development Policy (better known as Food First) is a member-supported, nonprofit 'peoples' think tank and education-for-action center. Their work highlights root causes and value-based solutions to hunger and poverty around the world, with a commitment to establishing food as a fundamental human right. Food First is at the forefront of countering the industry's hype surrounding genetically engineering's ability to feed the hunger and improve third world agriculture.

Organic Consumers Association
OCA promotes food safety, organic farming and sustainable agricultural practices in the U.S. and internationally. They provide consumers with factual information they can use to make informed food choices. The OCA supplies information on topics such as genetic engineering, toxic sludge fertilizer and mad cow disease to the media and public interest activists.

National Family Farm Coalition
Provides the farmer's perspective on biotechnology as well as agricultural economics. Learn why vertical integration of the food supply isn't benefiting farmers or consumers and why biotechnology may be doing more harm than good.

Rural Advancement Foundation International
RAFI is dedicated to the conservation and sustainable improvement of agricultural biodiversity, and to the socially responsible development of technologies useful to rural societies. RAFI is concerned about the loss of genetic diversity - especially in agriculture - and about the impact of intellectual property on agriculture and world food security.

Farm Aid
Farm Aid brings together the common interests of family farmers, consumers, and people who care about the environment. Farm Aid's goal is to keep family farmers on their land and to restore a strong family farm system of agriculture. Their Farmer to Farmer campaign facilitates communication about dangers associated with agricultural biotechnology.
